Mr. Miller, from the Select Committee to investigate con-
dition of the McDonough School Fund of Charles County,
submitted the following
REPORT.
The undersigned, a majority of the Select Committee, ap-
pointed by order of the Senate to investigate the condition
of the ''McDonough School Fund of Charles County," beg
leave to report, that entertaining the opinion that no au-
thority is given them under the Constitution and Laws of
the State to make the investigation proposed by said order,
respectfully ask to be discharged from the further considera-
tion of the subject.

Mr. Lancaster from same Committee, submitted the follow-
ing
MINORITY REPORT.
The undersigned, of the Committee appointed by the Sen-
ate, March 21st, 1878, to investigate the condition of the be-
quest of the late Morris McDonough, of Charles County, for
the education of children of indigent parents in said county,
respectfully reports, that said Committee has met, has ex-
amined one witness, (whose testimony is herewith enclosed,)
and inasmuch as in his opinion, it was the desire and inten-
tion of the Senate, that this matter should be investigated, as
it was not only important to the interests of the indigent
children, but an act of justice to the present Treasurer and
Trustees. Respectfully requests that the said Committee be
instructed to continue the investigation, and examine such
witnesses as have been or may be summoned before them.
