Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact with
amendments, Sections 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 and 11, of Chapter 233,
of the Acts of 1874, entitled an Act to establish the Mary-
land House of Correction.

Being upon its third reading,
Mr. Bannon submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Section 9, line 4, after the word "Court," strike out the
word "shall," and insert "may."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time and;
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to purchase the whole or any part of the
second preferred mortgage bonds and coupons of the Western
Maryland Railroad Company, and fund certificates represent-
ing such coupons, and to issue its stock or certificate of in-
debtedness so far as may be necessary for the said object, to
an amount not exceeding the sum of $400,000.

Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays, as
follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. President, Humphreys,
Bannon, Lancaster.
Combs, of Allegany, Lee,
Dennis, Miller,
Ford, Stump,
Franklin, Sulivane,
Freeman, Wilson—15.
Gorman,

NEGATIVE—None.

Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.
Mr. Freeman, from a Select Committee, reportedfavorably,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections 3, 4, 5, 10, 11,
12, 13 and 14, of an Act passed at the January Session of
the Legislature, 1876, Chapter 179, entitled an Act to repeal
Sections 58 to 64 inclusive, of the Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County, entitled "Collectors," and Section 78 to
90 inclusive, entitled "Treasurer," and re-enact the follow-
ing, &c., &c.

Which was read the second time.
