Gentlemen of the House of Delegates.

We have read your message requesting the Committee on
Finance, of the Senate, to act jointly with the Committee
appointed on the part of the House of Delegates in making
an investigation into the affairs of the Susquehanna and
Tide Water Canal Company, and concur therein.

JOINT ASSEMBLY.

The hour of 12 o'clock having arrived, the Senate pro-
ceeded to the Hall of the House of Delegates, to enter into
an election of United States Senator.

The Secretary of the Senate then proceeded to call the roll
