Fifth: Rhode Island Colonial Records, from 1636 to 1792,
ten volumes, 8vo., published at Providence, R. Island, be-
tween 1856 and 1865.

South Carolina: Documentary History of S. Carolina, and
of the Revolutionary War, chiefly in South Carolina, three
volumes, 8vo., 1764, 1782, published at Charleston, S. C.,
1853, 1855.

Vermont: Records of the Council of Safety, and Governor
and Council of Vermont, July 1775 to 1812, five volumes,
Svo., Montpelier, 1873, 1877.

Vermont, again: State Papers, &c., &c., from 1749 to
1822, one volume, 8vo., Middleburgh, 1823.

Virginia: Virginia's State Papers, one volume—of a series
just commenced to be issued.

It is believed, that this brief catalogue is nearly perfect of
the publications by States of the Union, up to this period;
but it does not, of course, comprise a tenth of the valuable
historical volumes printed by the various Historical Societies
of most of the above-named States, and of other States not
enumerated in the list. Our own Historical Society has con-
tributed about seven volumes, 8vo., to Local History and An-
nals chiefly, and possesses the superb index in manuscript,
to the Maryland Documents in the State Paper Office, Lon-
don, prepared for the Society, by direction of the late George
Peabody, and presented by him. It is contained in eleven
volumes, 4to. (or Solander Cases,) and minutes copiously
each important State paper from 1626 to 1685, in volume 1.

As your memoralist before mentioned, our Historical So-
ciety also possesses (in manusc'pt.) the Calendar of Maryland
State Papers, from 1637 to 1766, by the Rev. Dr. Ethan
Allen, the whole calendar being yet incomplete.

Besides these treasures, our Society was enriched by the
Legislature of 1846, 1847, by eighth bound volumes of State
