16 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 4,

Mr. Vandiver nominated George Colton
Mr. Steiner nominated J. Guest King.

The Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House of
Delegates called the rolls of their respective Houses, where-
upon each Senator and Member proceeded to ballot.

Upon counting the ballots, Mr. Stump, upon the part of
the tellers, made the following report:

The tellers appointed respectfully report:

George Colton received............................. 75 votes.

J. Guest King received.............................. 14 "

And there were blank ballots...................... 3

Whole number of votes cast........................ 92

Whereupon it appearing that George Colton had received
a majority of all the votes cast,

The Chairman declared George Colton duly elected State
Printer.

The Chairman then announced that the Joint Convention
had finished the business for which it had assembled.

Whereupon the Joint Convention adjourned.

The Senators having returned to the Senate Chamber,

The President appointed the following as the Committee
on Printing: Messrs. Lee, Hepbron, Miller, Cooper and
Lancaster.

On motion by Mr. Gorman, it was

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns, it stands ad-
journed until Tuesday next, at 12 o'clock, M.

Which was adopted.

On motion by Mr. Lancaster,
The Senate at 3. 40 P. M, adjourned.
