what it meant not to possess liberty. Today, throughout the world we see only
too vividly what it means to lose one's liberty. We see it in bleeding France, in
ravished Poland, in starving Greece.

It must not happen here in America. It will not happen -here as long as
the people of America give to their appointed tasks in this war the same devo-
tion and the same determination that, here in Aberdeen, have brought such out-
standing results, and that have won for the officials and employees here today
the Country-wide recognition that theirs is a job well done, that they are doing
their part to save America and all the world from slavery. By such efforts as
yours will Victory come to the United Nations, resulting in a durable and honor-
able peace for humanity.
