Could anything more definitely have expresed the spirit and the determina-
tion of the American and Filipino soldiers on Bataan Peninsula? Truly did
General MacArthur describe their achievement when he sadlly declared that
•'No Army has ever done so much with so little. " They did not surrender. They
were simply overwhlmed—overwhelmed by force of numbers, by lack of food
and supplies and medicine.

Inspired by such a spirit of 'resistance among our Allies and among our
own soldiers, can we have here in Maryland and throughout the United States do
less than respond to the utmost?
