562 State Papers and Addresses

The achievements of the Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard, Incorporated, in the
interest of Defense Preparedness have been outstanding in the extreme—and
quite in keeping, I might say, with the accomplishments of the United States
Maritime Commission itself.

When the history of this Emergency is written, due recognition will be
given, I am confident, to the significant contribution to defense made by the
Commission and by shipbuilding concerns such as Maryland is proud to ac-
claim at Fairfield.
