JOINT VOTE.
Whereupon,

It appeared by a viva voce vote of each Senator and
Member present, (a majority of all the Members elected
to both Houses being present and voting) that upon a
joint vote,

Hon. John Walter Smith received 29 votes.

" Louis E. McComas " 38

" Bernard Carter " 11 "

" Elihu E. Jackson " 5 "

" Joshua Miles " 4 "

Whole vote ... 125
Necessary to choice, 63.

Whereupon,

It appearing that no one had received a majority of
votes cast, the Speaker announced that there had been
no election and ordered the result spread upon the
Journal.

At 12.55 on motion of Senator Brewington, the
Chairman declared the Joint Assembly adjourned.

The House resumed business.

At 1.00 o'clock,

On motion of Mr. Collins.

The House adjourned to until Thursday, January
21st at 11 o'clock.
