Benson, Collins, Hill, Morrison and Godwin.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate..

JOINT CONVENTION.

The hour of 2.30 p. m., having arrived,
The Senate appeared, accompanied by the commit
the appointed by the House, and took the seats as-
signed them. The returns for the election of Gover-
nor were then opened by the Speaker of the House of
Delegates in the presence of both houses, in confor-
mity with the provisions of the Constitution, Article
2, section 3, and were read by the Speaker.

It was found that Hon. Edwin Warfield had received
108,548 vote.

Hon. Stevenson A. Williams received 95,923.

Hon. William Gisriel received 2,913 votes and Hon..
Silas M. Crabill received 1,302.

Whereupon,

The Speaker declared that Edwin Warfield having
received the highest number of votes cast, was duly
elected Governor of Maryland for the term of four
year from the time of his qualification as prescribed
by the Constitution.

The Speaker then declared the Joint Assembly ad-
journed.

The Senators returned to the Senate Chamber, and
the House resumed business at 2:50 p. m.

On motion of Mr. Wells the House adjourned un-
til Tuesday, January 12, at 7:30 p. m.
