The following is the summary of all the votes cast by
the Joint Assembly, February 3rd, 1904.

31 Members had named Hon. John Walter Smith.

8 " " " Elihu E. Jackson.
33 " " " Louis E. McComas.

119 Total vote.

Necessary to choice, 60.

Whereupon,

It appearing by a viva voce vote of each Senator and
Member of the House present, (a majority of all Mem-
bers elect of both. Houses being present and voting),
that no person had received a majority of all the votes
cast, the Chairman declared that no person had been
elected by the Joint Assembly as Senator from Mary-
land, to the Congress of the United States in succession
to the Hon. Louis E. McComas, a Senator in the Con-
gress of the United States from this State, for the term
ending March 4, 1911.

On motion of Senator Moore,

The Joint Convention adjourned until 12 o'clock m.
tomorrow, February 4th, 1904.
