whether a voter is entitled to vote and such persons
shall withdraw at once after their statement shall
have been given. Any person desiring to vote shall
give his name and if requested so to do, his residence,
to one of the ballot judges to be designated for this
purpose by the judges who shall thereupon announce .
the same in a loud and'distiuct tone of voice, and if
such name is found by the Judges of Election upon
" the list of registered voters, or if the person offering
to vote shall satisfy the judges of his having acquired
the right to register at the next registration as afore-
said, the voter shall be allowed to enter the space en-
closed by the guard rail as above provided; a ballot
judge shall then give him one, and only one ballot; be-
fore handing the ballot to the voter, the ballot clerk
shall place his own initials immediately beneath the
fac simile signature and so that the same may plainly
appear when the ballot shall have been folded; besides
the election officers not more than four voters in excess
of the number of voting shelves or compartments pro-
vided shall be allowed in said enclosed space at one
time. On receipt of his ballot the voter shall forth-
with and without leaving the enclosed space, retire to
one of the voting shelves or compartments and shall
prepare his ballot in accordance with the rules or
regulations furnished by the governing body of each
of said political parties to the election supervisors and
by them transmitted to the judges of election; said
rules or regulations shall be furnished the election
supervisors at least fifteen days prior to the date of
said primary election, and shall be published at least
once in two or more newspapers published in said
county prior to the day of said primary election, one
of which newspapers, if possible, shall be of the politi-
cal faith opposed to that of a majority of the board of
election supervisors. After so preparing his ballot the
voter shall fold the same without displaying for whom
he has voted, and in such mariner that the fac simile
signature and the initials of the ballot judge shall be
easily seen, he shall hand the same to one of the
judges of election who shall forthwith deposit it
in the proper ballot box and the said voter shall
immediately retire from the room; but no ballot
