John: Vigorous Plt                            Somerset County Walter Lane Adm^r of all & Singular the
Contra                         }          goods Chattels & Credits of Josias Seaward was attached
Walter Lane   Dft                to answer unto Josias Seaward Jn^o. Vigorous of a plea of tresp^s on y^e Case

And whereupon the said John by Peter Dent his Atto^rney. Saith that y^e Said Josias in
his life time to witt the 23^d: day of August in the year of our Lord 1689 at Pocomoke within
the Jurisdiction of this Court was indebted to the Said John in the Sum of four hundred
& thirty pounds of tobacco, being as well for Sundry Physicall means Expended as also
for his labour pains & attendance on the Same at Sundry times, & the Said Josias in his
lifetime, to the Said John. in manner aforesd being indebted, did assume & faithfully
promise, that he the Said Josias the Said Sum to the Said John. would well & truly
Content & pay.  Nevertheless the said Josias in his life time, nor the said Walter Lane to
whome Adm^rn of all & Singular the goods Chattels & Credits of the Said Josias, Since the
death of the said Josias in his life time, and the Said Walter Since his death hath been required
but hath hitherto refused, & doth Still refuse to the damage of the Said John of 1000 Pound
of tobacco, & thereupon he brings his Suit &ca.                                                  John Doe
