( 37 ) According to law in that Case made & provided &ca. _______ James Sangster Clr Indts Which Indictmt. was returned by the Grd Jury Ignoramus == - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ___________ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ______ - - - - - - - - 1691 On the 29th of Aprill Thomas: Williams wife went to bed & Tho: Williams & Mary Berry was in the house. ffrances. Williams Called out to me & said that Rogue & whore was going to murther her, & Thomas: Williams replyed & Said that there was no abiding for him in the house that night. & Thomas & Mary went out of doors, & ffrances bolted the door against them & Said lett them go like a whore & a Rogue together, & Said she would Stand upon her own defence her self. And ffrances called Mary a great many ill names & Mary calld her the like againe. & ffrances called to me & Said, they are going to play the whore & Rogue together, under the peach trees againe, whereof Thomas & Mary went toward the tobacco house, & she bid them go alike a Rogue & a Whore in the tobacco house & gett another Basterd, & bury it in the peach Orchard, for the hoggs to reat it up & eat it up as they did before. And the next day following ffr. Williams came to me wth her Child in her armes & she Said she was a going to Capt. Browne for an Order to drive that whore from under her nose for she would not endure it no longer. I William Reynolds advised her not to goe for it would bring both Charge & trouble upon them & there Children in process of time. ffr. Williams Swore a great Oath as Sure as yw have that how in yr hand it is all true what I said over night which I answered againe, if half of it was true it was very bad things, And when she went away she turnd her head back & Swore it was all true. And about two hours after & about two hours after she came back & thanked me for my advise. for she mett with another man that gave her the Same advise & she would not goe this time his mark Will. Renalds _______ On Tuesday the 15th: of Decembr ffrances Williams called her husband, thou Rogue (by his lyes in my hand. for my Child was fairly buried before the face of the Neighbours but thine thou Rogue was thrown out to the fattened hoggs in the peach Orchard. & if the peach trees had but tongue to Speak, they would tell of ye Roguery, Her Husband Tho: Williams said this damnable jade will take away my life from me. And the next morning Rose Boyer Said ffrances,why do yw Say Such things of your husband, for one or another will present yw or call you in question, She held up her hands and said she never desired to come where God had to doe that was not true & I wish I may never enter into heaven if that be not true what I have said At another time: Tho: Williams wife charge him before me, & said what was yr reason to keep where & have a Wife of yr owne, & he answered again I keep no whore, she answered againe I |
