( 1 ) At a Court of Adjournment held the 8th day of August for ye County of Somerset in the Province of Maryland by their Maties Justices thereunto authorized, Anno Domini 1692 . --------------- ------------- ------------ ---------- ------ Comrs Present mr ffrancis Jenckins. Capt. John: Winder. mr. James Dashiels mr. James in Court were. Round. mr. Thomas: Jones. mr. George: Layfield. Capt. John: King The Court being Calld: mr James: Dashiels then took the Oaths appointed. viz the Oath of Alleagiance; ye Oath of abhorrence, & the Oath of a Justice of Peace . Rowland Beavens. & Samuel: Heydon pr request, are dismist from ye Jury . - - - - - - - ------------ -------------------- ------------ --------------- May it please ye worll. Court. Gentlemen. Since it So happened with me yt I cannot wait on you this day with out real prejudice to my Self, and expecting complaint will come before you pr John: Pope against Abraham. Vanfall, In which matter I have been and still am Concerned, as having Sufficient reason to look on the said Vanfall as malitious and prnitious person, and to prevent his killing mens Creatures, did about a moneth Since Order our Constable to take the said Vanfalls Gun into Custody untill this Court, Its now at your worps. pleasure, whether he may have it restored or shall ever be Suffered to keep a Gun more to kill Horses at his pleasure. If have yr liberty allowed him, I expect more mischief quickly to ensue & my horse to be one of the first that must goe to pott, for I have done enough to forfeit his life by Concerning my Self about killing John Popes. I humbly beseech your worps will not Suffer any weapons in Such mad mens hands except were more responsible. for he is not worth any horse or other dumb beast. and the Lord and him Self only knows how many of his Neighbors he hath been the death of as is shrewdly Suspected. Isaac: Horsey. this day brought his Servant boy to be judged. viz James: Crawford, having no Indenture. and this Court adjudges the said James to be fourteen years of age. who saith he came into this Country in ye good Shipp.Providence of London. mr Wm. Mecoy.Master.thereof Majr. Robert: King brought his Servant boy James: Odougherty to be judged of his age having no Indenture.
