The Jurors for their Maties being Sworn upon the holy Evangelist Contra. } at a Grand Jury held the Second tuesday in 9ber last past do present & find Tho: Jones: Gent that Thomas: Jones Gent One of their Maties Justices of the Peace for this County ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ notwithstanding of his Oath and allegiance to their Maties, for ye true & impartial admn of Justice, and preservation of their Maties Peace at Animessex in the sd hundred And within the Jurisdiction of this Court, of Sarah: Davis the wife of Thomas Davis Planter, did take Certain Bonds for the behaviour & preservation of the peace, and by Recognizance, the said Sarah did bind to appear the next County Court to answer what should be Objected agt the said Sarah.by Jno: Hopworth. Complainant, and to be of the good behaviour and abearing in the meanwhile to all their Maties Liege people of this Province, but especially to the said John: Hopworth, which said Recognizance so taken the sd Tho Jones not regarding his duty or the Law of the Land the same did Conceal from the knowledge of their Maties Comrs in Such Cases authorized for Examination of Criminal Causes. but Secretly and Clandestinly ye said bonds of Behaviour and peace did Surrender to the said Sarah: Davis, and her Securities whereby the said Sarah was - Incouraged to break the peace and behaviour within One month after ye said taking of the bonds, by wch offence and arbitrary power of taking & Surrendering Recognizance at pleasure, the Laws are Subverted & ye Subjects endangered & evill dissafected persons Encouraged to mischief without punishment Therefore their Maties Attorney Saith that the premises Considered agt the said Thomas Jones he ought to Suffer ye pains and punishments |
