(153) January the 13th: Anno: Domini 1691 At the Court house appeared. these Comissioners following. vizt Mr ffrancis: Jenckins: Majr Robert: King mr. James Round. Comissioners. the Justices above specified. Adjourned the Court till the Second tuesday in March = but before the sd Adjournment. Came the Grand Jurers for the body of this County to tender the prsentments by them made. but for reasons abovesd. were requested to Seal them up, and deliver them to the Clerk of the Court which was done accordingly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This Indenture Wittnesseth that I George Davis Sonn of the deceased Lewes Davis late of this County Province of Maryland Planter, of my free and voluntary will with Consent of my Mother Mary Davis Widdowe hath put my Self apprentice to Samuel: Johnson of the County and Province aforesd Planter in the imployment which he now useth as Planter to be taught and with him after the manner of an Apprentiss to dwell & Serve from this prsent day untill he Come to age which is twenty One years of age, by all which Terme of years the said Apprentiss the Said Samuel: Johnston well and truly shall Serve, his Secrets shall keep close, his Comandments lawfull & honest every where he shall gladly doe, hurt to his Said Master he shall not doe, nor Suffer to be done, to the value of twelve pence by the year, but shall lett if he may or else imediatly admonish his Said Master thereof the goods of his Said Master he shall not inordinately waste nor them to any body lend, at dice or any other unlawfull game he shall not play , whereby his Master may incurr any hurt ffornication in the house of his Said Master or else where he shall not Comitt, Matrimony he shall not Contract, Taverns he shall not frequent, with his Own propper goods or any others dureing the said Terme without the spetial lycence of his Master, he shall not Merchandize from the Service of his Said Master day nor night, he shall not absent or prlong him Self, but in all things as a good and faithfull Apprentiss, shall bear & behave himself towards his Said Master and Mistress and all this dureing the terme aforesd, and the said Samuel: Johnston to his Said Apprentiss, the Art or science of a Planter which he now useth he shall teach and informe or cause to be taught or informed the best way that he may or cann as also shall teach his said Apprentiss to read the Bible or other English books, and to give unto his said Apprentiss One good Sufficient Cow and Calfe betwixt four and Seaven years old to be delivered unto & for the propper use & behalfe of his sd Apprentiss when his said Apprentiss Comes and is at the age of tenn years old, as also shall find to his said Apprentiss, apparel meat drink & Lodging and bedding and all other necessaries meet & Convenient for an Apprentiss for and dureing the terme aforesd all which the said Apprentiss, with Consent of his Mother, of his own free & voluntary will, binds himself to the aforesd Samuel:Johnston & his Heirs. In wittness whereof, we have interchangeably Sett to our hands & Seals this thirteenth day of January Annog Domi 1691/2.
