SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of public health and safety, and hav-
ing been passed upon by a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 68.
(House Bill 32)

AN ACT making an emergency appropriation from surplus
to the State Tax Commission for the payment of one-half
of the annual salaries of the Supervisors of Assessments
of the. several counties and Baltimore City and one-half of
the annual salary of the assessors of the several counties
for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1948 and June 30, 1949,
respectively, as provided by Chapter 706 of the Acts of
1947.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of One Hundred and Sixteen Thousand
Dollars ($116, 000), or so much thereof as may be necessary,
be and the same is hereby appropriated as an emergency ap-
propriation from any funds in the General Surplus Fund
Account of the Treasury of the State of Maryland for the
fiscal year ending June 30, 1948 to the State Tax Commis-
sion, and that the sum of One Hundred and Twenty-Two
Thousand Dollars ($122, 000), or so much thereof as may
be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated as an
emergency appropriation from any funds in the General Sur-
plus Fund Account of the Treasury of the State of Maryland
for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1949 to the State Tax Com-
mission, said sums to be used by the State Tax Commis-
sion for the purpose of the payment of one-half of the
annual salaries of the Supervisors of Assessments of the
several counties and Baltimore City, and one-half of the
annual salary of each assessor of the several counties, as
said proportions of the annual salaries of the Supervisors
of Assessments and the assessors are required to be paid
by the terms and conditions of Chapter 706 of the Acts of
1947.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That the Treasurer of
the State shall, upon the warrant of the Comptroller, disburse
