notes issued by said Commission to finance the purchase of
park lands in that portion of the Maryland-Washington
Metropolitan District lying within Montgomery County from
the proceeds of the tax or taxes therein directed to be levied
and collected for that purpose. In like manner, the limita-
tion on indebtedness contained in Section VII of said Chap-
ter 1008 of the Laws of Maryland of 1943 is hereby increased
from $1, 200, 000 to $2, 000, 000, such increase in limitation
also to embrace and be applicable to any refunding bonds
authorized by said Section VII which said Commission may
issue from time to time hereafter with respect to the acquisi-
tion of park lands in that portion of the Maryland-Wash-
ington Metropolitan District lying within Montgomery
County.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, that any contract or
commitment hereafter entered into by the Maryland-Na-
tional Capital Park and Planning Commission with the
United States of America or with any bureau or agency
thereof, or with the National Capital Park and Planning
Commission, pursuant to the authority of Chapter 1008 of
the Laws of Maryland of 1943, or any amendment of a pre-
existing contract or commitment shall be subject to the
following conditions and limitations insofar as any such
contract or commitment may have reference to obtaining
the advances authorized by sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) of
Section 1 of the Act of Congress of the United States known
as Public Law No. 284 of the 71st Congress, as amended,
for the purpose of acquiring park lands in that part of the
Maryland-Washington Metropolitan District lying within
Montgomery County. Any such contract or commitment
with respect to the acquisition of park lands within Mont-
gomery County, so entered into by the Commission prior to
the year 1947, pursuant to any Act of the General Assembly
of Maryland enacted prior thereto, is hereby validated and
approved and declared to be binding, in accordance with
its terms, upon the State of Maryland, said Commission and
upon the County Commissioners of Montgomery County. In
the event however, said Commission shall desire to amend
any such contract or commitment, with respect to the ac-
quisition of park lands within Montgomery County, (other
than supplementary agreements hereinafter mentioned hav-
ing reference to the acquisition of particular units of park
land comprising portions of a general park plan theretofore
approved by the County Commissioners of Montgomery
County), such amendment shall not be binding upon the
State of Maryland, said Commission or upon the County
Commissioners of Montgomery County until the same shall
have been ratified and approved by the County Commis-
sioners of Montgomery County. In the event said Commis-
