SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of
all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 42.
(House Bill 3)
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Board of Regents
of the University of Maryland to acquire land and other
property, and to authorize the Board of Public Works to
allocate such funds for this purpose as the Board of
Public Works may deem necessary.
WHEREAS, additional lands are required by the University
of Maryland at College Park for the purpose of housing
veterans of World War II, and other purposes, therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Board of Regents of the University of Mary-
land is hereby empowered and authorized to acquire by pur-
chase, lease or condemnation the following tract or tracts
of land and properties at College Park:
All that parcel of ground being and constituting Lots
10 and 11 of Block 3 of Easterday and Haldeman's Resub-
division of Blocks 11 and 22 of Johnson and Curridan's
Subdivision of College Park, as per plat recorded in Plat
Book A as Plat No. 47 of the Land Records of Prince
George's County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Board of Pub-
lic Works is authorized and hereby empowered to allocate
such funds as may be available and not otherwise allocated
for the aforesaid purpose as the said Board of Public Works
may deem wise and necessary.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of public health and safety, and hav-
ing been passed upon by a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
