Proviso.
if the same had been duly acknowledged, and the
acknowledgments thereof duly certified according to
the laws of this State; Provided, that nothing herein
contained, shall effect the rights of creditors or bona
fide purchasers, without actual notice, who have become
such before the passage of this act.
In force.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after its passage.

                           CHAPTER 294.

AN ACT to refund to Charles H. Sheirburne and company,
     the amount over-paid the State by said Sheirburne
     and company, for State taxes.
     Authority to
pay.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That the Treasurer, upon the warrant
of the Comptroller, pay to Charles H. Sheirburne and
company, or their order, the sum of six dollars, being
the amount over paid the State by the said Sheirburne
and company, for State taxes, for the years eighteen
hundred and fifty and eighteen hundred and fifty-one,
as appears from a certificate of the clerk of the commissioners
of tax for Charles county.
In force.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

                           CHAPTER 295.

AN ACT to authorise the Treasurer of this State to take
     the Bonds of the Susquehanna Canal company, and
     the Tide Water Canal company, for the interest in
     arrear, due by them respectively to this State.
     Authority to
receive bonds
for interest in
arrear.
     Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Treasurer of this State, be, and he is
hereby authorised and directed to receive from the Susquehanna
Canal company, and from the Tide Water
