passed at December session, eighteen hundred
and forty-nine, chapter three hundred and nine, entitled,
an act for the better regulation of primary schools
in Carroll county, upon the commissioners of primary
schools in Carroll county, a body corporate created by
said last named act, be, and are hereby conferred upon
the above named Andrew K. Shriver, John C. Cookson
and Jacob Holmes, and their successors in office,
to be elected under the provisions of the said act of
January session, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter
one hundred and sixty-eight, as a body corporate
hereby created, so far as said powers are consistent with
the provisions of the said act of eighteen hundred and
fifty-two, chapter one hundred and sixty-eight.

     SEC. 3.  And be it enacted, That the trustees of
primary schools, elected under the provisions of the said
act of eighteen hundred and fifty-two, and the trustees
of the said primary schools, that may be hereafter
elected under the provisions of the said act of eighteen
hundred and fifty-two, shall be required to make, in
writing, a report of the number of children in their
respective districts, to the said school commissioners for
Carroll county, on the first Monday of September after
the passage of this act, and on the first Monday of
March and September, in each and every year thereafter,
under the oath or affirmation of the said trustees, or
a majority of them.
     Number of

     SEC. 4.  And be it enacted, That the said, the school
commissioners for Carroll county, shall, in addition to
the compensation now allowed, receive six cents for
each and every mile that they, or either of them, shall
travel to the place of meeting of the said, the school
commissioners for Carroll county, when on business
relating to the said primary schools.
Compensation.
     SEC. 5.  And be it enacted, That all the provisions
of the said act of Assembly of eighteen hundred and
forty-nine, chapter three hundred and nine, inconsistent
with the provisions of the said act of eighteen hundred
and fifty-two, chapter one hundred and sixty-eight, be,
and the same are hereby repealed; and that the provisions
of any law inconsistent with this act, be, and are
also hereby repealed.
Repealed.
     SEC. 6.  And be it enacted, That this act shall go
into operation from the date of its passage.
