the same by subscription, in the manner, and upon the
terms herein before prescribed for the reception of subscriptions:
Provided, That the said capital shall not be so increased
as to exceed five thousand dollars.

Dec. Ses. 1825.

    18.  And be it enacted, That on the first Monday of May and
November in each and every year, there shall be semi-annual
dividends of the profits which may be made by said company
among the stockholders thereof.

    19.  And be it enacted, That a majority of said directors shall
be competent to transact all the business, and discharge all the
duties, authorised and directed by this act.

    20.  And be it enacted, That if subscriptions shall not be received
by said commissioners, to the amount of one half of the
capital as aforesaid, in that case, the said commissioners, or a
majority of them, shall and are authorised to re-open the books
of subscription from time to time, until one half of said capital
shall be subscribed:  Provided, That the same notice be given of
such re-opening as is directed in the first instance.

                                            CHAPTER 109.

An act for the relief of Benjamin M. Miller, of the District of Columbia.

Passed Feb.
25, 1826.
    Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
judges of Frederick county court, or either of them, or any
justice of the orphans' court of Frederick county be, and he or
they are hereby authorised and required to grant to Benjamin
M. Miller, of the District of Columbia, the benefit of the several
acts of assembly, passed for the relief of insolvent debtors;
Provided, That the said Miller shall comply with the provisions
of the said insolvent laws, in all other respects except
that of proving residence, and provided he shall satisfy the said
court, judge or justice of the orphans court, that he did not come
into this state with the intention of obtaining the benefit of the
insolvent laws of this state.

                                            CHAPTER 110.

An act relating to the owners and occupants of shad and herring fisheries
                                        on the Potomac river.

Passed Feb.
26, 1826.
    Sec. 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall be the duty
of the clerk of Prince George's county court, and he is hereby
directed, upon application being made, to grant to any owner
or occupant of any shad or herring fishery on the Potowmac river,
within the limits of Prince Georges' county, a license to
sell spirituous liquors, and other articles during the fishing
season; provided the owner or occupant of such fisheries shall
be engaged in catching shad and herrings for sale.
