On motion of Mr. Moore, it was
Ordered, That Messrs. Beasman, McCullough, Roe,
Robinson and Dixon be excused from to-day's session.
JOINT CONVENTION OF THE GENERAL AS-
SEMBLY OF MARYLAND.
ELECTION OF A SENATOR IN CONGRESS.
Pursuant to adjournment,
The hour of 12 o'clock, meridian, having arrived,
The Senators of Maryland escorted by Messrs. Col-
lins and Feaga, the committee appointed by the
House of Delegates for that purpose, appeared in the
Hall of the House of Delegates, for the purpose of con-
vening with the Members of the House of Delegates in
Joint Assembly for the election of a Senator from this
State for a term of six years, from March 4th, 1905, in
succession of the Hon. Louis E. McComas, whose term
will then expire.
The Senators, accompanied by their Secretary, hav-
ing been seated in the Hall of the House of Delegates,
the Secretary of the Senate called the roll of Senators.
The Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates called
the roll of members of the House of Delegates.
A quorum of each House being present,
The Speaker of the House of Delegates assumed the
Chair as Chairman of the Joint Assembly.
The Secretary of the Senate then read the Journal of
the proceedings of the Senate of the preceding day
in relation to the balloting for a Senator, in the Con-
gress of the United States from this State, showing the
fact that no person at the vote so taken had received a
