It therefore appearing that no one having received
a majority of all of the votes cast by the General As-
sembly of the State of Maryland, for the office of
United States Senator from this State.
The Speaker of the House of Delegates, or Chair-
man of the Joint Assembly announced that there had
been no election of a United States Senator from this
State, on the previous day in either House.
And thereupon,
The Secretary of the Senate, being directed to call
the roll of Senators of the State of Maryland, for the
purpose of electing a United States Senator in the
Congress of the United States from this State by said
joint Assembly.
