DEAR SIR: —In obedience to an order of the Senate,
passed on the 19th inst., "Ordered by the Senate that
the Comptroller of the Treasury furnish at his earliest
opportunity to the Senate, a copy of the two state-
ments signed by the Comptroller and Treasurer and
countersigned by the Governor, and on file in his
office, and which were made and filed as aforesaid,
within the first three weeks in October, 1891, and
January, 1892, respectively, as required by section
23, Article 95, of the Code of Public General Laws,
as amended by Act 1890, chapter 571, " I have the
honor to enclose herewith the statements as above
ordered.

We the undersigned, Comptroller and Treasurer of
Maryland, do hereby certify that having visited the
Safe Deposit Company in Baltimore city, wherein the
bonds, certificates of stock and other securities pur-
chased or obtained for use of the Sinking Funds, and
all other bonds, certificates of stock and other
securities belonging to the State were deposited ac-
cording to law, and obtained the same, we did on the
11th of January, 1892, in the presence of the Governor
of said State, count the bonds and certificates for
stock of the State of Maryland, and count and ex-
amine the other securities for the use of the Sinking
Fund, and do return this a statement of the bonds,
certificates so counted, and those so counted and
cancelled signed by us, to be filed in the office of
Comptroller of said State as required by law, as fol-
lows, to wit:
