MONDAY, January 18th, 1892.

Senate met at 8 P. M.

Prayer by Rev. Mr. Andrew.

Present at roll-call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Austin, Brown, Evans, Getty,
Gorter, Hayes, Hepbron, Hubner, Moss, Newman,
Robinson, Rogers, Smith, Talbott, Toadvin, Waters,
Wilkinson, Wirt, Wootton—20.

Proceedings of Thursday's session read and ap-
proved.

PETITIONS, MEMORIALS, &c.

Mr. Austin presented the memorial of James Wal-
lace, George M. Phillips, T. Bakley & Co., and 147
other citizens, asking that such laws be enacted as
will reduce the time for the taking and catching of
oysters in the waters of the State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

ORDERS.

On motion by M. Mr. Hayes, it was

Ordered, That rule XVI shall be amended to read
as follows:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

The following standing committees, which shall
have leave to report by bill or otherwise, shall be
appointed at the beginning of each session by the
President, unless otherwise ordered by the Senate.
