Mr. Rogers, from the Committee on Education, re-
ported favorably the following bills:

Senate bill entitled an Act to create n commission
to inquire into the distribution of the State School
Tax, and to make a report to the next General As-
sembly of Maryland, with the following proposed
amendment:

AMENDMENT. PROPOSED.

Amend section five, fifth line, by striking out the
word "two, " and inserting "one" in lieu thereof.
Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
with amendments sections 6, 18 and 25, of Article 77,
of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Public
Education, " sub-title "Chapter 2, Formation of
Boards, " with the following proposed amendments:

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Strike out all after "a bill, " and insert the folio wing:

Entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments section 6, 18 and 25, of Article 77, of the Code
of Public General Laws, title "Public Education. "

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, that sections six, eighteen and twenty-
five, of Article seventy-seven, of the Code of Public
General Laws, title "Public Education, " be and the
same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows:

Sec. 6. Immediately after the passage of this Act
the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of
the Senate, shall appoint a Board of County School
Commissioners for each county, to be composed in
counties having less than one hundred schools, of three
persons, and in counties having one hundred schools
or more of six persons, of whom one third in each
county shall serve for a term of two years, one-third
shall serve for a term of four years, and one-third
shall serve for a term of six years, from the first day
of August next succeeding their appointment and
