line, "and may in their discretion appoint one or two
suitable women as matrons at the other station houses
in said city."

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the School
Commissioners of Dorchester county to enter into an
arrangement in reference to Academic Education in the
town of Cambridge.

Mr Austin submitted the following proposed amend-
ment :

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Add an additional section to come in after section 4,
to be numbered section 5. as follows :

"Provided, however, that the purchase of the afore-
said sixty-nine shares of stock of said Cambridge Fe-
male Seminary, by said School Commissioners of Dor-
chester county, and the contracts mentioned in section
1, 2 and 3 of this Act shall; not be ratified, confirmed
and made valid, unless the said School Commissioners
shall also purchase the remainder of the one hundred
and twenty shares, which constitutes the whole of the
capital stock of said Female Seminary, the par value
thereof, but if said holders of said remaining shares.
