through which the same shall pass.

 

SEC. 28. And be it enacted, Where the excavation

 

of any lot or lots, or parts thereof as aforesaid, to a

depth of two feet or more, adjoining any of the

 

streets or alleys in the said city, it shall be the duty

 

of the owner or owners of such lot or lots to erect

 

and keep in repair good and sufficient walls or fences

 

along such streets and alleys, or parts thereof, where

 

such excavation so adjoins, as effectually to protect

 

such thoroughfares from injury, and render the use

 

thereof by the public safe and convenient.

 

SEC. 29. And be it enacted, That the Mayor and

 

City Council of Havre-de-Grace shall grant the tem-

 

porary use of any street, alley or public thoroughfare
of said city which may be required by the owner of

to comply with the provisions of the preceding sec-

 

tions in constructing underdrains, walls or fences, or

 

in making grades.

 

SEC. 30. And be it enacted, That the said corpora-

 

tion shall have full power to prescribe fines and pen-

receiving ten days' notice in writing, shall refuse or

 

neglect to comply with the provisions of the three pre-

ford county, and when collected, shall be paid to the

 

treasurer, duly appointed by the corporation afore-

 

said, for the sole use and benefit of the said corpor-

SEC. 31. And be it enacted, That the Mayor and

 

City Council may direct by ordinance all or any of

 

the foot-ways within the limits of said city to be
