this State, showing the fact that Hon. Arthur P.
Gorman, at the vote so taken for a Senator in Congress
from this State for the term of six years from March,
4th, 1893, in succession to Hon. Arthur P. Gorman,
whose term will then expire, had received (a majority
of the members elected to said Senate being present
and voting,) a majority of all the votes of the said
Senate for Senator in Congress from this State, in
succession to Hon. Arthur P. Gorman, for the term of
six years from March 4th, 1893.
After which the Clerk of the House of Delegates
read the Journal of the proceedings of the House of
Delegates on the preceding day, in relation to the
election of a Senator in Congress in this State, show-
ing the fact that Hon. Arthur P. Gorman, at the vote so
taken for a Senator in Congress from this State for
the term of six years from March 4th, 1893, in succes-
sion to Hon. Arthur P. Gorman, whose term will then,
expire, had received (a majority of the members
elected to said House of Delegates being present and
voting,) a majority of all the votes of the said House
of Delegates for Senator in Congress from this State,
in succession to Hon. Arthur P. Gorman, for the term
of six years from March 4th, 1893.
It appearing upon the reading of said respective
Journals of Proceedings in said Senate and said
House of Delegates on the said day, that Hon. Arthur
P. Gorman had so received a majority of all the votes
in said Senate, and had so received a majority of all
the votes in the said House of Delegates for Senator
in Congress as aforesaid, the Chairman of said Joint
Assembly declared that Hon. Arthur P. Gorman hav-
ing received a majority of all the votes in the said
Senate and a majority of all the votes in the said
House of Delegates, is duly elected a Senator in Con-
gress from the State of Maryland, for the period of
six years from March 4th, 1893, in succession to Hon.
Arthur P. Gorman, whose term will then expire.
The Secretary of the Senate then read the Journal
of the proceedings of the Senate on the preceding day
in relation to a Senator, showing the fact that no per-
son at the vote so taken had received a majority of
all the votes of said Senate for Senator in Congress in
this State to fill the vacancy caused by the death of
