Journal of the 3d read and approved.
PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND OTHER PAPERS.
Mr. Leonard presented a petition from Emma Mason,
Annie M. Thomas and 56 others, in favor of local
option and against high license in Talbot county.
Also presented a petition from S. L. Cogill, S. S.
Thompson and others, on same subject and in favor of
same.
Which were severally read, and referred to the Tal-
bot County Delegation.
Mr. Green presented a petition from 228 citizens of
Somerset county, protesting against any change in the
line to distinguish Manokin River from other bodies
of water.
Which was read, and referred to the Somerset
County Delegation.
Mr. Combs submitted the following Biennial Report
of St. Mary's Female Seminary:
REPORT:
To the Honorable, the
General Assembly of Maryland:
The Board of Trustees of St. Mary's Female Semi-
nary most respectfully submit their report to your
Honorable Body, according to the requirements of the
Act of Assembly approved March 28th, 1868, chapter
193, entitled an Act to endow the St. Mary's Female
Seminary.
The faculty at present in charge of the institution,
are: Miss. Ann E. Thomas, Principal; Miss Rose M.
Sweeney, Vipe-Principal, with Misses N. Hardcastle
and Polk, Assistants; all are conscientious, laborious
and capable, the discipline is good and such as to pro-
mote studiousness among the pupils, a larger number
being in attendance than at any time since the estab-
lishment of the school.
