Mr. Maddox reported favorably from a Select Com
mittee,
House bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower
the Governor to appoint an additional Justice of the
Peace for Election Districts Nos. 1, 4 and 7, of Charles
county.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Collins reported favorably from a Select Com-
mittee,
House bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 476, of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of
1890, entitled an Act for the better protection of fish,
crabs, oysters and terrapins in the waters of Talbot
county, and to re-enact the same with amendments.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Brashears reported favorably from a Select Com-
mittee,
House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 60, of
Article 77, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Public Education," sub-title "Text Books," so far
as the same applies to Anne Arundel county, and to
re-enact a substitute therefor, providing for the free
use of books and stationery in the public schools of
said county.

The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following message:
House Joint Resolution requesting and directing the
Senators and Representatives of the State of Mary-
land in the Congress of the United States, to use their
best efforts to secure the passage of a bill having for
its object the transfer of the Revenue Marine Service
from the Treasury Department to the Navy Depart-
ment of the United States.
Endorsed: "Read the third time, and passed by
yeas and nays."
