House bill entitled an Act to add an additional sec-
tion to the Code of Public Local Laws, Article 9, title
"Charles County," sub title "Roads and Bridges."
Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by
yeas and nays, with proposed amendments."
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Strike out the last section of the bill.
Also, in line 4 of title, after letter "A," add words
"and 160 B," and after word "to," in same line,
strike out the words "regulate the building of," and
insert the words "to license persons engaged in haul-
ing."
In line 5 of section 1, after letter "A," add words
"and 160 B."
Also, strike out a'l after letter "A," in line 5 of sec-
tion 1, and insert as follows:
"It shall be lawful for the County Commissioners
of Charles county, in their discretion, to require all
persons who may engage in hauling heavy timber
(not cord-word) in Charles county for commercial pur-
poses, between the first day of December of any year
and the first day of May following, to pay a license
not exceeding the sum of five dollars per month, and
if the said license shall be imposed all money derived
therefrom shall be applied to the county road fund."
Also,
Add new section, to be known as "160 B," to read
as follows: "If the County Commissioners should
impose such a license, any person regulating or re-
fusing to procure the same, shall be subject to a fine
of not less than five dollars nor more than one hun-
dred dollars, in the discretion of the Court trying the
case, said fine to be collected as other fines and for-
feitures."
Which were severally read and concurred in.
Said bill, as amended, was then passed by yeas and
nays, as follows:

Strong, Wilson, Donaldson, Ireland, Lane, Carrico,
