ing such bill of exchange, bank check, draft or prom-
issory note on that day ; and provided further, that
in construing this section, every half holiday Satur-
day shall, until twelve o'clock noon, be deemed a
secular business day; nothing in this section shall
effect the provisions of sections 9 and 10, of Article 13,
of the Code of Public General Laws, applicable to any
Saturday whenever the same under the provisions of
said sections shall be a legal holiday.
"Section 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage."

Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to pay the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more the assessments for benefits assessed on
property of the State of Maryland for the opening of
Pulaski street, and for benefits assessed on the
property owned by the State of Maryland for the
opening of Carrollton avenue.
Which read a first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Ways and Means.

Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the as-
signment and transfer of certain shares of the capital
stocks of the Easton National Bank of Maryland, and
