140 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 28,
Also favorably,
House bill entitled an Act granting the sanction of
the General Assembly of Maryland, to the gift and
bequest of Elizabeth C. Lane, of Washington county,
to the Board of Home and Foreign Missions.
Also favorably,
House bill entitled an Act to cede to the United
States jurisdiction over certain lands at or near An-
tietam battle fields.
Which were severally read a first time.
The Select Committee on the Yentilation of the
Chamber of the House of Delegates made the follow-
ing report:
To the Honorable House of Delegates :
The Select Committee appointed to examine into
the ventilation of the Hall of the House of Delegates
would state that they find the present system of ven-
tilation very defective, and as it will be impossible
to make any very radical changes in the Hall during
the session of the Legislature, they would recommend
as a temporary expedient the opening of the ventilat-
ing register, near the ceiling, and the constant burn-
ing of a Bunslea gas name within the flue, so as to
keep up an upward draft.
They would also recommend that boards six inches
wide be placed under the sash of the windows, so as
to admit air without causing a draft that will effect
the members.
Respectfully submitted,
J. C. MONMONIER,
Chairman.
Which was read and adopted.
