SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That the treasurer shall make
|
|

commissioners when required by them for all moneys received
|

by him, and shall promptly pay to the order of the commis-
|
|
|

sioners under such regulations as they may prescribe, all
|
|
|
|
sums of money so received by him ; he shall receive for his
|
|
|
|
services such compensation as the commissioners may direct,
|
|
|
|
not exceeding ten per cent, of his collections.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That the chief bailiff shall
|
|
|
|
attend the meetings of the commissioners, and perform
|
|
|

such duties as they shall direct, shall preserve the peace and

good order of the town ; and for this purpose is vested with
|
|
|
|
the same power and authority as any constable now has

under the laws of this State.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That the president shall pre-

the enforcement of town ordinances, rules and regulations,

where the commissioners are a party, and shall receive the

an appeal from his judgment, may be taken to the Circuit
|
|
|

Court of Caroline County, which shall hear and determine
|
|
|
|
the matter as upon appeals from a justice of the peace.

SEC. 22. And he it enacted, That the chief bailiff shall

his office ; he may be fined not exceeding ten dollars for

any one offence.

SEC. 23. And be it enacted, That any fines, penalties and
|
|
|

forfeitures imposed by this charter or by any ordinance of

the commissioners may be collected by proceedings in the
|
|
|

name of the commissioners before the president of the com-
|
|
|
|
missioners or a justice .of the peace ; aud the said president
|

or justice of the peace shall have the power to commit the
|
|
|
|
offender to the county jail on failure to pay such fines or
|
|
|
|
forfeitures, until the same shall be paid with costs, and all
|
|
|
|
fines, penalties, aud forfeitures arising under this charter
|
|
|
|
or any ordinances, rules or regulations passed by said
|
|
|
|
town commissioners shall be turned over to the town treas-
|
|
|
|
urer for town purposes.
