CHAPTER 617.


AN ACT to empower the Board of School Commissioners of


Frederick County, to grant free scholarships to students


of Frederick County, to normal schools in said county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the Board of School Commissioners of

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the board of school com-


missioners of said county may grant free scholarships to

for teaching, and that the said board of school commis-


sioners shall pay the tuition for said scholar or scholars out


of any surplus money, after the regular expenses of the

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said board of school


commissioners shall select the students, not exceeding three
in any one year, from among persons having qualifications
