accepted and filed in the county in which the deed has been

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 242.


AN ACT to authorize and require the County Commissioners


of Washington County to refund to Martin L. Byers,


Benjamin F. Bench, Samuel Poffenberger and Benjamin


F. Eshleman, certain moneys paid by them as endorsers


for George W. Pole late collector of State and county


taxes of said county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Washington

Bench, Samuel Poffenberger and Benjamin F. Eshleman


the sum of sixteen hundred dollars, being money paid by


the said Martin L. Byers, Benjamin P. Rench, Samuel


Poffenberger and Benjamin F. Eshleman to the Hagers-


town Bank as endorsers on the promissory note of the late


George W. Pole, collector of State and county taxes, for


the years 1884 and 1885, while the said Martin L. Byers,


Benjamin P. Rench, Samuel Poffenberger and Benjamin F.


Eshleman were county commissioners, for said county, the


proceeds of which note was used in payment of claims


against the county.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said county com-


missioners are authorized to levy taxes for the payment of

Levy tax.

the sum of sixteen hundred dollars authorized and directed


to be paid in the foregoing sections.
