to be registered voters of the district or precinct in which they


respectively reside, and that the said affiant or affiants


personally saw the signers, in regard to whom he or they


make oath, sign said " nomination papers." In the city of


Baltimore the board of supervisors of election shall have


prepared a printed form of "nomination papers," and shall


upon the payment of a fee of one dollar upon the demand


in writing of any five or more bona fide registered voters of


the said city of Baltimore at any time after the first day of


September, and before the twentieth day of October in any


year, fill in one such form of "nomination papers " with the


name and address of any person desired to be presented as


a candidate for any office, and keep the same in their office


accessible to the public during reasonable office hours until


the afternoon of said twentieth day of October, for the pur-


pose of allowing the same to be signed by bona fide registered


voters of said city of Baltimore or of the the proper ward or


wards or proper legislative or congressional or other election


district therein, that all registered voters of the said city or


proper ward, legislative district, congressional district or


other election district therein, desiring to sign the "nomi-


nation papers" of any candidate for any office to be voted


for at the next election, shall go to the office of the said


supervisors of election in Baltimore City, and there in the


presence of some one or more members of said board or some


clerk of said board of supervisors of election, designated by


said board, sign the "nomination papers" there on file.


And the member of the said board of supervisors or their


clerk before whom any " nomination papers " are signed shall


have the power if he see fit, to require any person offering


to sign the same to make oath or affirm that he is a bona


fide registered voter, and that his purpose in signing the


"nomination paper" is a bona fide desire on his part to


have the person named in said "nomination papers," elected


to the office for which he is purposed to be nominated and


that he does not sign said "nomination paper " for the pur-


pose of aiding the election or candidature of some other


person for the said office, or for any other indirect or fraudu-


lent purpose whatsoever. And any wilfully false statement

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take


effect from the date of its passage.
