SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in consideration of the


sum of three thousand dollars to be paid annually to the

visitors and governors of Washington College in addition

CHAPTER 155.


AN ACT to reimburse the Visitors and Governors of


Washington College, for the board and tuition of W. T.


Brown, a student erroneously appointed from Somerset


County under the act of eighteen hundred and seventy-


four, chapter two hundred and eighty -two.


WHEREAS, under the provisions of the act of eighteen

two, the visitors and governors of Washington College


board and educate free of charge six students from the


Eastern Shore counties of the State of Maryland ; and


WHEREAS, said six students have been appointed by lot

among the nine counties of the Eastern Shore ; and


WHEREAS, at the beginning of the present scholastic year,

on the third Wednesday of September, eighteen hundred


and ninety-one, there was a vacancy in said six appoint-


ments, to which Talbot County was in fact entitled ; and


WHEREAS, Talbot County duly filled said vacancy ; and

whereas, also. Somerset County erroneously understanding
that said vacancy was to be filled from said county appointed


W. T. Brown to fill the same ; and


WHEREAS, the visitors and governors of Washington

College being reluctant to refuse said student and relying


upon the liberality and sense of justice of this General


Assembly to make temporary provision for said student, have


received and accepted said student, and have been and now


are boarding and educating him free of charge, therefore,


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the treasurer, on the warrant of the comp-


troller, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay
