SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 605.


AN ACT to amend chapter fifty, of the acts of eighteen hundred


and nineteen, passed January nineteenth, entitled "A further


supplement to an act entitled an act for making certain roads


in Baltimore and Harford counties," by amending it in the


second section thereof, relative to a remedial process in cases of


neglect of proper reparation of such roads.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the act of said general assembly, known as "Chapter fifty,


of the acts of eighteen hundred and nineteen," entitled "A further


supplement to an act for making certain roads in Baltimore and


Harford counties," be aud the same is hereby amended so that the


second section thereof shall read as follows : That the company


incorporated by said act is hereby invested with all the rights and


privileges which are held and possessed by the turnpike company
incorporated by the act entitled an act to incorporate a company


to make a turnpike road from the District of Columbia to the


city of Baltimore, and to be subject to the same penalties, and


governed by the like regulations as are therein prescribed, and to


be entitled to the same tolls; and every clause and provision of


said last mentioned act, relating to the road therein proposed to

be made, shall be construed to apply to the road contemplated in

cable; aud that the remedial processes aud provisions of section


twenty-six, of the act above set out, being "An act to incorporate


a company to make a turnpike road from the District of Columbia


to the city of Baltimore," shall be extended and applied to that


portion of Baltimore county which has been annexed to the city


of Baltimore, by force of chapter ninety-eight, of the acts of as-


sembly of eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, entitled "An act to


extend the limits of Baltimore city by including therein certain


parts of Baltimore county," and that the jurisdiction and powers


conferred by the said section upon justices and constables within


the county, are hereby respectively vested in and shall be exercised


in and as to all processes and proceedings within the pur view


thereof by any justice of the peace and constable in the said city


of Baltimore; and that the criminal court of said city shall have


and exercise all the jurisdiction and powers conferred by the said


section twenty-six upon the judges of the county court, and that
