CHAPTER 556.


AN ACT to regulate and limit the sum to be paid for public


printing in Kent county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the county commissioners of Kent county shall, before


making their annual levy in each and every year, contract for


printing and publishing all such matters, as are required by law

to be published in two newspapers, except the public local laws


which may be passed at each session of the general assembly, in


two newspapers, and not more than two, which papers shall be of


largest circulation published in Kent county, for the period of


one year trom the date of making such contract; and if unable


to contract with such papers, then the county commissioners are


authorized to contract with any two papers published in said


county for said printing; provided said contract shall not allow


for such printing and publication a sum exceeding in the aggre-


gate the sum of one thousand dollars.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if the said county commis-


sioners shall not succeed in effecting said contract with any two

papers published in Kent county, then they are hereby authorized
to contract with any paper or papers published in said county, or


with any person elsewhere to do the work aforesaid, in handbill


or pamphlet form, for a sum not exceeding in the aggregate the


sum of one thousand dollars as aforesaid.


SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That in event of publication afore-


said, in handbill or pamphlet form, said county commissioners

shall provide, in their discretion, for posting said handbills in a


sufficient number of public places in said county, and for distri-


bution of said pamphlets for the information of the public.

Effective.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 557.

AN ACT to repeal article three and four and five, of the charter
of the "Baltimore association for the improvement of the con-
dition of the poor," as amended and enacted by act passed
at the January session, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight,
chapter twenty-four, of the General Assembly of Maryland,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
