meeting of the stockholders of said company, and to continue the


succession of said company; a general meeting of the stockholders


shall be held ou the first Tuesday of April, or within three weeks


thereafter, of which meeting at least one week's notice shall be


given by the president and directors by advertisement in one of


the daily papers published in Hagerstown; and at each of said

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the president and directors or


a majority of them shall have power to make and adopt, alter and


amend such by-laws, rules and regulations for the direction and


management of said company as may in their judgment, from


time to time be necessary for the purposes of the corporation ;


provided, they are not inconsistent with the constitution and laws

the power to employ all such agents and servants for the construc-


tion, maintenance, repair and preservation of the railway and other


property of said company, and the running of cars and transpor-


tation of passengers thereon, and for the transaction of all the

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the company hereby incorpor-


ated shall have the power to make and construct and maintain a


railway, with double or single track and sidings as they may deem

expedient for the transportation in cars propelled by electricity,


horses or in any other manner than by steam, in and over the


streets of the city of Hagerstown, in this State; provided, how-


ever, that it shall first obtain the right to secure said streets from


the mayor and city council of said city.


SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That said company shall not charge


more than (5 c.) five cents fare for the conveyance of each pas-


senger over fourteen years of age, and not more than three cents

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That if any person or persons shall


wilfully, by any means whatsoever, injure, impair, destroy any

railway, by means of which any injury may be done to any of the
