lector as aforesaid into the treasury, the refunding of which having


been recommended by the treasury officials.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 390.


AN ACT to authorize and enable the county commissioners of


Caroline county to aid the Delaware and Chesapeake railway


in the construction of the branch railroad authorized by chap-


ter two hundred and sixty, of the acts of eighteen hundred and


eighty-six, by issuing the bonds of said county to the amount


of sixty thousand dollars for the purpose of raising money to


be expended in such construction, and to levy a tax on the


taxable property of said county for the payment of the interest


and principal of said bonds.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the county commissioners of Caroline county be and they


are hereby expressly authorized, enabled and empowered to aid


the Delaware and Chesapeake railway in the construction of the


branch railroad authorized by chapter two hundred and sixty of


the acts of eighteen hundred and eighty-six, by issuing the bonds

dollars, which said bonds shall be of the denomination of one


thousand dollars each and shall bear interest at the rate of four


per centum per annum, the principal of said bonds shall be pay-


able in forty years from date of issue; subject, however, to the


right of said county at its option to redeem the same in 'whole or


in part, at any time after the expiration of five years from the


date of said issue; the interest of the said bonds shall be paid


semi-annually and each thereof shall have coupons thereto at-


tached representing each semi-annual instalment of interest; pro-


vided, however, that the said bonds shall be issued, sold and


delivered as is hereinafter stipulated; and provided, further, that


such bonds shall not be issued until the question of their issuance


for the purpose in this section declared shall have been submitted


by the said county commissioners to the qualified voters of the


said county, at the time and in the manner hereinafter specified,


and a majority of the votes cast by such qualified voters shall
