SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 367.


AN ACT to enlarge and extend the powers and franchises of the


Franklin permanent building association, of Baltimore county,


so as to enable it to make loans on promissory notes and pur-


chase evidence of debt.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the powers and franchises of the Franklin permanent build-


ing association, of Baltimore county, a body corporate duly incor-


porated under the general incorporation laws of the State of Mary-


land, be and the same are hereby enlarged and extended so as to

authorize and permit the said body corporate to make loans of


unemployed funds or money of its members on promissory notes,


with a clause embodied in the same for the payment of attorney's


commissions of collection in case of default of payment, to be ac-


companied with personal security or endorsements, or with col-


lateral security, or both, and with any unemployed funds or


moneys to purchase bonds, notes, accounts, orders and other


evidences of debt; provided, that said corporate body before it


shall exercise any of the powers and franchises herein enumerated,


shall obtain from the clerk of the circuit court for Baltimore


county, who is hereby authorized to issue the same as in indi-


vidual cases, a bill broker's license as is now or shall hereafter be


provided by law.

CHAPTER 368.


AN ACT to prohibit the sale of liquors at " Araby union chapel,"


in Urbana district, Frederick county, and within one mile


thereof.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That it shall not be lawful for the clerk of the circuit court of

sons to sell spirituous or fermented liquors or lager beer at Araby


union chapel, Urbana district, Frederick county, Maryland, or at


any place nearer than one mile in every direction from said Araby
