CHAPTER 186.




AN ACT to amend and change the boundary lines of the ninth,


eleventh, twelfth and twentieth wards of the city of Baltimore


as now denned by an ordinance of the mayor and city council


of Baltimore, number thirty-six, approved April sixth, eighteen


hundred and eighty-two, and passed in conformity with the re-


quirements of an act of the General Assembly of Maryland,


chapter two, approved February sixth, eighteen hundred and


eighty-two, entitled an act to provide for the re-division of the


city of Baltimore into election precincts, wards and legislative


districts, and also to provide for the sub-division of said ninth,


eleventh, twelfth and twentieth wards into election precincts.


WHEREAS, in consequence of the large and unequal increase in


population in various voting precincts in the northwestern section


of the city of Baltimore, and in order to extend greater convenience

to the qualified voteres therein and to equalize the election pre-


cincts thereof as nearly as may be, it is deemed desirable to change


certain parts of ward lines and precincts as hereinafter mentioned;


therefore,


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the boundary lines of the ninth, eleventh, twelfth and


twentieth wards of the city of Baltimore as now described and


defined in an ordinance of the mayor and city council of Balti-


more, number thirty-six, approved April sixth, eighteen hundred


and eighty-two, and passed in conformity with the requirements


and terms of an act of the General Assembly of Maryland, en-

chapter two, approved February sixth, eighteen hundred and


eighty-two, be and the said boundary lines of the said ninth,


eleventh, twelfth and twentieth wards of the city of Baltimore


are hereby amended and changed so as to read respectively as


follows:


SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the boundary lines of


the ninth ward in said city of Baltimore be and the same are


hereby changed so as to read as follows : ninth ward — beginning


for the same at the city dock and running thence northerly along


the west side of Jones' Falls to Eager street; thence westerly


along Eager street to Cathedral street; thence southerly along


Cathedral street to Richmond street; thence northwesterly along

9th ward.

Richmond street to Park street; thence southerly along Park


street to Fayette street; thence west on Fayette street to Eutaw


street; thence south on Eutaw street to Pratt street; thence


easterly on Pratt street to Howard street; thence southerly on
