That article twenty-three, of the Code of Public General Laws


of this State, title "Corporations," as the same was adopted by


the act of eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, chapter seventy-

CHAPTER 135.


AN ACT to repeal sections two hundred and forty three, two


hundred and forty-eight and two hundred and forty-nine, of


article one, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Allegany


county," sub-title " Westernport " and to re-enact the same with


amendments, so as to read as follows :


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

Repeal.

That sections two hundred and forty-three, two hundred and forty-


eight and two hundred and forty-nine, of article one, of the Code


of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany county," sub-title "West-


ernport," be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted, so as


to read as follows :


243. The male citizens of Westernport aforesaid, of the age of


twenty-one years and upwards, being citizens of the United States,


who have resided in said town for and during the space of six


months next preceding the second Monday in January in each and


every year, at the usual place of holding elections in said town or

at such place as shall be designated by the commissioners of West-


ernport, are authorized to elect five commissioners for said town


who shall have resided within the limits thereof at least two years


next preceding said election, also a clerk and bailiff, each of whom


shall have resided in the town two years next preceding the elec-


tion, the commissioners now in office shall continue in office until


their successors are elected and qualified, and the commissioners


to be elected-under the provisions of this act shall, after they have


qualified, hold their several offices until their successors are elected


and qualified.
