JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

Assented to ly the General Assembly of Maryland, at a Session

began on the Seventh day of January, 1879, and

ended on the Sixth day of April, 1880.

No. 1.


Whereas it has been represented to this General


Assembly that the channel in the Chesapeake bay,


near the city of Havre-de-Grace, Harford county,


State of Maryland, is obstructed by shoals that


are a hindrance to navigation and seriously inter-


fere with commerce ; therefore,


Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Mary-


land, That our Senators in Congress be instructed,


and our Representatives be requested to use their


influence in urging the necessity of an appropriation
by the General Government for the purpose of deep-

tween the city of Havre-de-Grace and Spesutia island,


and thereby opening the same to the commerce of the


country.


No. 2.

Requesting the Governor to issue a commission to
the Hon. Arthur F. Gorman, Senator elect in the
Congress of the United States from this State, for
the term of six years, from the fourth day of March,
eighteen hundred and eighty-one.
