SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any one violating
|
|
|
|
|
the provisions of the preceding section shall, upon
|
|
|
|
|
conviction before a justice of the peace of said coun-
|
|
|
|
|
ties, be liable to a fine of not less than five dollars
|
|
|
|
|
nor more than ten dollars, for each offence, and upon
|

failing to pay such fine and cost of prosecution shall
|
|
|
|
|
be sentenced to imprisonment in the county jail of
|
|
|
|
|
the county in which the offence has been committed
|
|
|
|
|
for a period not exceeding ten days, said fine to be

|
|
paid to the county commissioners for the use of the
|
|
|
|
|
county ; provided, however, that any person so con-
victed shall have the right of appeal to the next
|
|
|
|
|
term of the county court.

CHAPTER 426.

AN ACT to repeal section nine, article fourteen,
|
|
|
|
|
Code of Public General Laws, title "Bills of Ex-
|
|
|
|
|
change and Promissory Notes," and to re-enact
|
|
|
|
|
the same with amendments so as to make Good
|
|
|
|
|
Friday and the day of general elections legal
|
|
|
|
|
holidays.
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That sections nine and ten of article
fourteen of the Code of Public General Laws, title
|
Repealed and
re-enacted.
|
|
|
|
"Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes," be and
|
|
|
|
|
the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted to read
|
|
|
|
|
as follows :
|
|
|
|
|
SEC. 9. When bills of exchange or promissory
|
|
|
|
|
notes become due and payable on Christmas day, or
